About 3 to 4 egg whites followed by a glass of fresh orange juice provide you with nearly 20 grams of protein and about 35 grams of carbs as well as enough hydration to keep you going at the gym. Egg whites contain all the essential amino acids and provide enough nitrogen for toning up. The carbs and vitamin C in the orange juice fuel a vigorous workout so you can sweat it out better and for longer.
A slice of wholegrain bread slathered with a thin layer of peanut butter makes for a perfect source of carbs, providing you with a burst of energy and protein to help you sustain during the workout.
An apple and one medium-sized banana is another substantial pre-workout snack. The iron in the apple purifies blood while the potassium in the banana is great for nerve and muscle function. This combination will keep your nutrient levels high for the workout.
This is another perfect pre-workout energy source. Eat about five almonds, two walnut halves, one dried fig and a few raisins along with one glass of skimmed milk and you are set for a strenuous workout which will give you maximum results.
