The ‘Watch of the Year’ award was bagged by Greubel Forsey’s Quantième Perpétuel à Équation. Other winners included HYT Skull (Watch with Best Design), Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti 370 Victoire (Best Limited Edition Watch of the Year) and Hublot ICC World Cup Association (Best use of Ambient Media).
Apart from honouring the best in horology, the gala event served as a great platform to bring together the world’s leading watch brands as well as eminent politicians, industrialists, lawyers, corporate honchos and Bollywood celebrities like Yami Gautam, Nimrat Kaur and Pallavi Sharda. Guests were also treated to several entertaining acts including a rib-tickling performance by Delhi-based stand-up comedian Vasu Primlani.
On the occasion, we also caught up with watch experts Pascal Brandt and Jean Sébastien Berland to delve into the finer design and functionality aspects of watches in today’s day and age. Regarding the importance of design, Brandt said that it is the key differentiating factor when it comes to purchasing a watch. Berland made some pertinent observations regarding traditional watches, likening them to an accessory as compared to today’s smartwatches, which are more technical and utilitarian.
