A big trend on the runway this Spring/Summer, well-tailored straight fit shorts are a must-have in your collection. With the length stopping just a few inches above your knees, you can pair them with a shirt for casual day look, or pull out all stops and add a summer blazer to the outfit for an effortlessly stylish brunch ensemble.
If shorts are too risqué for you, ankle-length trousers, which were another big trend this season are definitely more suited to your style sensibilities. Pair them with formal shirts and blazers, or casual polo-neck T-shirts to adapt the runway trend to suit your style.
Leave muted mattes behind and don’t be wary of experimenting with fabrics that bear a sheen. While glittery pants are better left behind on the runway, experimenting with trousers in rich hues with a metallic shine is certainly an achievable look. The key is to pick deep, rich colours, as the shine isn’t too over-the-top; the lighter the colour of the fabric, the shinier it will appear.
If you’re worried that you’re never going to be able to break out your countless pairs of beloved denims, fret not, because dark-wash denim bottoms in lightweight fabrics are in again this year. Here too, stick to slim fits and roll up the cuffs at the ankle to pull off the trend with aplomb.
