3 ways to wear denim to work

On this day, 142 years ago, the denim jeans graduated from being mere waist overalls for miners and other workers to its more stylish version that we recognise and wear today—complete with metal rivets, a button fly and better fit. And while jeans have become synonymous with casual dressing, we believe that wearing one to work can make you look just as put-together as you would look if you were wearing a suit. A lot of this comes from the confidence with which you wear your outfit, but more importantly, it is the kind of jeans you pick. Dark-wash, straight-cut or tapered denims are acceptable for office wear, but steer clear of distressed, faded denims.

Everyday ready
As an alternative to your regular business formals look, pick a pair of crisp, dark-blue denims and club them with a basic shirt. Add a blazer, along with black or brown brogues or leather loafers. This look is perfect for a regular day at the office or even for a client meeting.
Friday dressing
Another approach to casual dressing is to pair well-cut, tailored denims with a polo T-shirt. However, ensure that you pick a T-shirt that is structured and flatters your form. Loose ones tend to look way too casual and out of place for an office environment.

After-work outing
If you have to go for drinks with colleagues or dinner with a client, the denim-on-denim look is a good option for smart-casual dressing. Pair a printed or plain lightweight denim shirt with dark jeans and tan accessories. Optionally, you can also pair a printed shirt with basic denims.
